A helicopter carrying a DPM Muhyiddin's delegation crashed after unloading its passengers in Sibu.

SIBU: Excitement seared through Sibu town at lunch hour today when a helicopter ferrying Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s delegation crashed on its side in an open field near Wisma Sanyan.

According to Sibu OCPD Shafie Ismail the chopper was attempting to take off to park at the airport when it fell back from 10 feet above the ground.

Shafie said the chopper had just unloaded its passengers.

The heli pilot, known only as Captain Sahami, suffered a broken leg and is currently seeking treatment at a nearby hospital.

The helicopter, operated by Sabah Air, was one of three coppers used to transport Muhyiddin’s delegation from Bintangor to Sibu earlier this afternoon. Muhyiddin was reportedly not onboard the copper.

The incident is believed to have occured at 1.45pm

No respect

Muhyiddin and his delegation are on the Sarawak election campaign trail.

Earlier this afternoon, in Meradong, he lashed out at the opposition for the way in which they were attacking Balingian incumbent Chief Minister Taib Mahmud. Meradong is in the Bintangor constituency.

“They condemn him with no sense of respect, no consideration or appreciation of the fact that he has brought changes to Sarawak during his term .

Speaking to newsmen in Meradong, Muhyiddin said he was repeatedly coming to Sarawak to remind people about BN’s contribution and to keep “the people from being influenced’ by Pakatan Rakyat and its leader Anwar Ibrahim’s fabricated tales
