Stalemate on the Native Cert issue

The authorities should not sweep under the carpet the case of the alleged fake Native Certificate of Sabah DAP chairman, Jimmy Wong Sze Phin. At the height of the controversy last year, UMNO and UPKO youths protested against such fake certificates and lodged police reports.

The Minister of Local Government Datuk Hajiji Hj. Noor, was reported as investigating the matter. What have come out of all these investigations?

Leaders like PBS Inanam Assemblyman Datuk Johnny Goh, who heads the Sabah Sino-Native Association, must take a stand on this issue whether Jimmy is a true Sino Kadazan. Does Jimmy qualify to join Johnny’s SSNA?

If Jimmy is a true native, then Jimmy’s accusers own him an apology. Sekong Assemblyman Datuk Samsuddin Yahya, Umno Youth, UPKO Youth and KDM leaders who have failed to defend the rights and dignity of a fellow native (Sino-Kadazan) cannot run away from causing hurt to a fellow citizen who is an elected Assemblyman from Tawau.

On the other hand, if Jimmy cannot prove his native status, then he owes everybody an apology and do the honorable thing by handing over the DAP chairmanship to Dr. Edwin Bosi.
